The release of this newsletter marks not only the
date for the
first ever Mortgage Fraud Seminar in the State of Colorado but also an
important anniversary of an historical event in American
history.
Fifty-seven years ago, on November 2, 1948,
national newspapers
announced “Dewey Defeats Truman,” a headline that not only proved
inaccurate but was a major embarrassment for journalists
worldwide.
And although I would like to write about the
great success of our
Mortgage Fraud Seminar, history reminds me of the danger of making
premature conclusions. Instead, the actualities will be discussed
in
our next newsletter.
I would, however, like to take this
opportunity to thank my staff,
Anna Freidhof, Susan DeHerrera, Sylvia Freidhof, and Linda Short, for
tirelessly working towards the goal of making this seminar a reality.
Not only have they skillfully handled their
typical, heavy
workload, but they have also offered their extra effort and time to
deal with the private and public sector, research information, give
insightful ideas, and tackle mundane tasks to make this seminar a
success.
I have heard it suggested around the office
that I am perhaps not
the easiest person to work for (words like perfectionist, driven, and
ogre have been heard in passing) but I think in this instance my
overburdened staff shares my pride in what we have attempted to
accomplish for our industry and community.
In closing, I can only hope that this seminar
accomplishes our
goal of bringing together professionals from all disciplines to not
only help improve our professions and economy but also to protect and
help honest citizens who find themselves victims of fraudulent
practices.
